Welcome to the launch of my new landscape and gardening blog. I live and operate my landscape design/build business in Buck Hill Falls, Pa. in northeastern Pennsylvania. My community was designed by Olmsted Brothers, sons of Frederick Law Olmsted, who coined the term landscape architecture in the latter half of the 19th century, who carried on the firm's hallmark landscapes across the US until the 1950's. Apart from running my business, travelling a 175 mile radius (or further) to tackle demanding projects, I am an avid lifelong gardener, beginning at the age of 5. I intend for my blog to facilitate the exchange of ideas, queries, and hands-on experience to further the human need to interact with the earth and its myriad possibilities to nourish the spirit and soothe the psyche.

I am not a big fan of advertising, and as a result do not wish to bombard you, my fellow gardening enthusiasts with junk email, email links, popup ads for health insurance, and everything which makes the internet an annoyance. So as such, I will never entertain the thought of being paid to advertise anything whether it is gardening related or not. If someone asks, "say, where can I find a good source of lacecap hydrangeas? I will post the email address to such a source as known to me, and you can take it from there. The same goes for books. Or tools. Or mychorizal root stimulants. I currently work in Zones 5a and 5b, so the majority of my personal observations will be based on these hardiness zones. Readers residing in other areas of the country will be able to provide more pointed advice, perhaps, on pertinent topics from their own hardiness zones. I will begin posting slowly at first on design basics, soil preparation, plant selection, stone work, and built garden structures, all based on sustainable materials and classic, elegant design.
